Professional Caring Service Since 1873

 Bernard E. Williams 1917-1997 |
Williams Funeral Home, which began as the Tschumperlin Funeral Home, has been serving Central Minnesota since 1873.
In the pioneer days, Jacob Grandelmeyer was making and selling "such loves of rocking chairs with which nothing can compare but the chairs which do not rock." His daughter, Mary, married Alois Tschumperlin, who had come from Switzerland, and who also sold furniture. By 1873, Tschumperlin had added another line to his business -undertaking. In 1904, son Al J. Tschumperlin was part of the firm. Since 1929, the business has been devoted entirely to funeral directing.
Bernard E. "Barney" Williams purchased the funeral home in 1948 from Al J. Tschumperlin and it has been in the Williams family since that time. In 1967 Thomas J. Williams joined his father and currently owns and operates the Williams Funeral Homes.
The tradition of providing personal options started by the Tschumperlin family, is still carried on today by Thomas J. Williams and his staff.

Families of Central Minnesota have been placing their confidence in the Williams Funeral Home since 1873. The funeral home was founded by A. J. Tschumperlin and it was operated by him and then his son Al until 1948. Barney Williams returned to St. Cloud after serving in the US Navy in WWII, graduated from the University of Minnesota and then purchased the firm in 1948. Tom Williams graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1967 and had the privilege of working with Barney until his death in 1997. Today, along with his dedicated staff, Tom Williams has the privilege of carrying on the tradition of service passed on by his predecessors.
